This book was alright. I feel it’s a letdown from the first book. I love book 1. It’s exactly what I want from a novel. A lovable, misunderstood person who strives to be better. Maybe I’m just too old for book 2, but the “love” between the teenage MC and the new teenage girl is completely unbelievable and frankly quite boring to me. The girl, Avah, at one moment was flirting with the big guy left and right, and right when the MC proved his strength, she instantly switched targets and started approaching the MC instead. Am I supposed to feel all cutesy seeing the two lovebirds holding hands? I’m actually quite disgusted to be honest. This is such a horrible character. She even interrupted the MC’s master lessons many times to give her unwanted opinions. She inserted herself into the group, and everyone just forgot that they were on a secret mission. Even the Sphinx was supposed to be a secret, but for some reason she just showed up to teach the MC, to show how awesome the MC was, in front of the ship crews and his love interest.
